Our Mission
Our mission is to help children with physical disabilities by retrofitting and constructing ADA compliant elements into their homes. We do this as an effort to create a more functional home environment, give them freedom of movement, and help provide a greater sense of independence.
The mission of Building Smiles is grounded in the belief that physical limitations should never restrain a child’s ability to explore, engage, and interact with the comfort of their home.
We are dedicated to removing these restraints by providing high-quality, custom-built wheelchair ramps in addition to ADA compliant retrofits. Some examples are construction of wider hallways, accessible bathrooms, elevators, chairlifts and more. We provide these services free of charge, to children and their families in need within Westchester County and the surrounding regions.
Our commitment transcends the mere act of building ADA compliant features in the homes of kids who need them. We seek to build bridges of empathy, forging lasting relationships with the families and communities we serve.
By mobilizing a network of skilled volunteers, generous donors, and compassionate community members, we unite diverse groups under the common goal of crafting direct, tangible impacts in children’s lives.
